I have 2 chicks I got at the farm store marked Blue Laced Red Wyandotte. They are one week old. The dark one I’m pretty sure is a gold laced? I have a hunch it’s a Roo?
The lighter one is a beautiful chick, really hoping a hen. But I’m not sure if it’s a blue laced red, any thoughts on any other coloring?

Hello, I'd say the first one is probably a golden laced. As for the lighter one, (I could be wrong on this) I believe blue laced red are usually darker, with dark colored heads. I'm not sure what else she could be. Hopefully, someone who knows Wyandottes better than I do will jump on here.
As for the genders, it's too early to tell.

Go look at my posts from today because I hatched two sets from my blue laced red Wyandotte. Might give you a good idea. I posted about the younger ones and pullet/cockerels. I was originally told they were Barnevelders but was corrected on here. Beautiful little chick

The lighter one is very blue, not showing in the pictures unfortunately. Almost lavender in color. I am anxiously waiting to see what this beauty could be, becoming one of my favorites. 🥰

Blue Laced Red Wyandottes come in blue, black or splash lacing. Your light chick is a splash. The darker one is either blue laced or black laced. You won’t know until it gets more feathers. They are too young to sex at this stage.

Thank you for your reply, I haven’t heard of a splash.

Here are some photos from a google search.

And then I circled a good example of a blue laced and a black laced

You can search BYC for info on the Blue-Black-Splash genetics. There are a lot of posts explaining how the blue gene works. But in breeding blue birds, all 3 variants will be produced.

This was my blue laced red wyandotte chick last May. It took me a month to determine whether she was a dark blue or black. So it's very likely the darker chick is a blue laced red, not gold laced.

And here she is, all grown up.

Out of curiosity, why do you think the darker chick is a cockerel? They look far too young to tell the sex.
