We lost a young free-range rooster a few days back. Only feathers left, no blood, so it was a fast nab and getaway. We suspect a bobcat, because of recent local sightings and no traces on fences of coyote fur. It had to come over the back fence because our 3 heelers were out front.
We've already lost ladies to hawks, which have a different M.O. Coons don't operate in broad daylight, so we're pretty sure it was a bobcat. Wife now carries an AR9 when out back. She's gone into protective mama mode.
I was surprised to hear these sounds that bobcats make, some I would have thought were a bird. FYI.
