Does anyone know anything about the laws regarding chicken ownership in any of these counties? Online sources are extremely frustrating to me. I've searched and searched and short of driving to the courthouse and asking to see the written ordinances, thought I'd see if by chance anyone knows. Thanks, all.

I am also trying to find the same information about Bradley County. I have pulled up the Zoning Resolution and see nothing in there specifically about chickens. If I find anything I will post...kindly do the same. :)

I will certainly do that. I did talk to a woman at Hobby Lobby in Cleveland who has chickens and lives there. She said as far as she knows, there is no ordinance against chickens in the county, however, we can't go on that. She may be in violation and just not know it. I'll post if I do find out something.

I live just outside of the city of Cleveland in an unincorporated area(Bradley county). My neighbors have tons of chickens and no one says or does a thing, but they really are not a nuisance unless they have two roosters again. I plan on having a few layers just because fresh eggs are so delightful. I have not found a single rule for the county. But I was told by a farmer friend that it is prudent to make sure they are fenced in. She thinks there are state laws that say this (but she's been wrong on a lot of now outdated laws too). I'm fencing because of predators and dogs/cats. I also was told that each city might have ordinances as to how many back yard chickens they allow. The city of Cleveland itself has a rule females only, with proper waste composting and the coop must be clean and sanitary (odor free...lol yeah odor free) with food and water available at all times. The city of Cleveland refers everyone to their animal control unit at 423-559-3333. So if you can't find anything in your county or even much in your city, you might try to check with their animal control units
