Hi, I recently got three Americanas (sorry if misspelled) and another mystery chicken we don’t know the breed of. We got them around a week ago from Tractor supply co. I was just wondering how to get them more comfortable with us, and when it’s appropriate to let them wander out side to explore with a lot of supervision. Thanks!

Hi! Congrats on the chicks! You can start by petting them and holding treats in your hand. Just make sure you have grit for certain treats! Around 6 weeks they can start being left alone outside but with a heater but by 7 to 10 weeks they should be fully feathered and can go outside full time! By the way it's Ameraucana (I have a hard time spelling it to lol) Let me know if you want help finding out what breed your mystery chick is!

I have Silkie eggs in the incubator right now and they should start to hatch soon! I don’t think it will take long for them to get used to you! Though I am not an expert for this sort of stuff. I would say 5 days until you could start bringing them outside...

Do you know if it's a sort of bantam or anything?

I haven't seen a lot of chicks that black! Not a lot of spots and markings. If she has fluffy cheeks I'm thinking she is an Easter Egger/Ameraucana cross
Her cheeks are actually really slim and she was in a different bin then the our other Americanuas. She has a couple of white feathers under her wings though. Her name is GG by the way! :)
