Breeding BCM for egg color

Technically you could, but that may cause some deformities farther down the line. I have one inbred chicken with five toes rather than four as a result from the inbreeding. I'll tag a few people with more experience than me. That sounds really fun though, good luck with your project!

I just ordered BCM chicks from a breeder that has beautiful dark eggs. I’d like to continue breeding them myself down the line for color. What are the rules with breeding related birds? Could I mate a rooster with hen that are related?
Yes you can. That's how keeping a quality line stable is done.

There's Inbreeding.

Line Breeding.

Out Crossing.

Clan, & Family Breeding.

This covers the first three listed.

Is the multiple toed one by chance from parents with polydactly mutation?

Inbreeding doesn't cause deformities. It enhances the genes that the birds have. It can bring to light faults but those faults were already in the genes and should then be eliminated.
Inbreeding is the only way to get the traits you want in your offspring, by breeding together the birds with the desired traits.
That is how all breeds were made and how Marans got darker and darker eggs in the first place.
