Breeding cornish cross

I purchased some chicks last spring.
Got some Bresse, Astrolorps and cornish cross.

I am looking to breed some cornish cross in the spring but I'm assuming my current ones are not going to last that long.
How do people breed cornish cross chickens?

They are a hybrid so they don't breed true. The hatcheries have a 4 way cross and what we buy are the terminal grandchildren.

But some of us have fed CX 2x a day all they can eat in 20 minutes and make them forge for the rest. I kept a pullet and most of my flock are out of her cockerels. She died before she was a year.

Consider breeding 3 month broilers instead of CX. Freedom Ranger hatchery makes a number of good options - I've been pretty impressed with the white ranger - very much like CX but better livability. Might could get some breeding out of those roosters if you limit protein content in feed and make them forage some as they grow up. Make sure your hens have good saddles and/or you trim nails and spurs well.
