Hey! Yes, my pens will be all season setups. They will have an indoor pen and an outdoor one. I'm trying to design a barn so I can have all my birds under one roof. (Separated). It will basically just be a building with an aisle in the middle and stalls on both sides. I'm hoping to have up and running breeding pens of: Light Sussex, Bantam Ameraucana, Magpie ducks, and Call ducks. Maybe pilgrim geese in the future.Chickens, and ducks, all require 4 square feet of space per bird inside the coop. Most breeding pens are all-season set ups, so each has a coop and a run. The run should have 10 or more square feet of space per bird. What kind of setup are you thinking of?
I would suggest you make individual breeding pens. More expensive, but if you're in it for the profit, it'll make you more money... or if you're breeding show stock or to the SOP. Make pens for trios. Then you can show the true father and mothers instead of guessing.Hey! Yes, my pens will be all season setups. They will have an indoor pen and an outdoor one. I have no idea of how many I would have of each, which is why I'm having trouble.
I'm thinking 8x8 ft for the large fowl? 6x8 for the bantams???????
Hmm... I'll have to think about that.......I would suggest you make individual breeding pens. Your barn idea would work well if you made very small sized stalls. Say, 20 square feet with 100 square foot run. More than suitable for a trio and suitable for up to 5!Hmm... I'll have to think about that.......
