Breeding time frame

I recently got some saxony and appleyard ducks with 1 saxony drake. I also have 2 welsh hens and 1 runner and 1 white duclair. I know the saxony drake is too heavy to mate with the welshies, runner and duclair. My question is what months should I have the 4 smaller hens separated so I don't have to worry about him trying to mate with them.

They’ll start mating practice at around 3 months old..

Unless you mean for breeding season? For some ducks, breeding season peaks in spring & summer and fizzles out in fall & winter, but from what I’ve seen and read, other ducks don’t care and will happily mate year-round. I guess it will depend on your drake’s temperament.

Thanks for the info. I have a half acre for them so I think I will just split it with a low fence the first season and see how things go
