Just curious how it works - picking up some white bantam cochin chicks to put in with my black cochin bantams - will I get either black or white or will some be mixed in coloration? Have a set pair in black, hoping for two white hens but we shall see

You will get paint chicks, which in my opinion is a mess of a color. Mostly white with random black feathers. You will have problems down the road getting rid of leakage and getting back to a solid color. Best to keep your black and whites separate (in my opinion).

Cochins are recessive white... so it could be anything.
That cross will probably produce black chicks, but they may turn out blue or barred. If she’s on a birchen or partridge base, I guess they’d produce black with leakage, but that’s not as likely.

Thanks peeps! Decided to stick with my black beauties and call it a day. Have 22 eggs in the bator and going to a flock swap tomorrow so it’s not like I’ll be bored 😂
