Hi all,
I had 2 muscovy hens go broody together & sit on 17 eggs. Long story short, their cage got damaged & during the repairs they both abandoned the nest. Eggs were roughly 26-28 days when abandoned. I left all the eggs in the nest for 2-3 days, hoping they'd return. They didn't. During those days majority of the eggs got destroyed. When I went & found remaining eggs, only 1 was safely viable. There was another with a broken shell (on airsac side), light very minimal bleeding (potentially a small nick in the side of the inner membrane). I peeled a bit of the shell away expecting to just be able to find how far along the baby was when it passed, giving me a better idea of what to expect with the viable egg. Only to see movement, I thankfully did not break into the inner membrane. I've been wrapping it in a clean towel, keeping it damp. It's so far doing okay. The other good viable egg has successfully pipped through its inner membrane & I'm expecting hatch within the next 48hrs - anyway for me to tell how far along the cracked egg may be though?
