Hi there, I need help with how to deal with a severely broken wing. My hen was trampled by a cow last night and she has a broken humorous that has been snapped and isolated from the other half of the bone.
I did think about putting her down, but mum suggested we leave her in the shed as if she was to die, she would do so overnight. 12 hours later she is still eating and is still talking when we go up to her, so she seems happy.
But I want to know what to do about her wing.

Pictures please?
It's survivable, no need to put her down.

Sorry for your loss, internal injury in cases like this are common and hard to detect (or fix), even immediate medical attention wouldn’t have saved her (except maybe full on human med, the $150,000 chicken!). If she had survived, if the bone had penetrated the skin you’d want her on antibiotics to prevent bone infection which is even nastier than a break. Wrapping the wing to the body to immobilize the limb for 4-6 weeks would probably heal the fracture (if no infection!) but make sure to unwrap and rewrap every couple days and don’t wrap so tight it cuts off circulation or the bird can’t breath.
