Isabel, a serial brooding Blue Copper Marans went broody a few days ago. She means business. Now today, I find Annie, my Buff Orpington has now decided to sit as well. Cool, but she hasn't been laying since she went into molt in October. She's been a successful Broody in the past, but always in the summer, last time was her reacting to my speckled sussex going broody, so she's prone to this. But, will a hen who isn't actually laying herself, commit to Brood a clutch of eggs? If so, I wonder if having 2 winter hatches would have a more favourable outcome?
