I have a Frizzle and she is the best little mommy so here's the reason for the post

To make a long story short I had planned to get some day old chicks from a hatchery and ended up not being able to get them and I knew my sweet hen was getting very close to not being broody so I bought chicks from Tractor Supply and I'm thinking they were probably 2 days old instead of 1 so sadly I put them under her that night and came back out around midnight and she wasn't sitting on them poor things were in a little ball by themselves 😭 and she was pecking at them quite a bit

Two weeks later and she is obsessed with them she's always over by them talking to them "tidbitting" outside of their enclosure and even letting them eat food from her mouth

She is no longer broody but I bought some day old chicks today and kind of want to see what she would do with them if I put them under her

I realize she's not broody but it's been maybe 2 days she's been coming out

Thoughts 🤷🏼‍♀️

I have silkies, the most broody chickens there are, and if they aren't broody, there's no chance that one would take chicks.

There's a chance they won't take them even if they are broody, but most of the time, they do.

All you can do is try if you want, but I presume you'll be raising those chicks.

You're correct I tried putting one under her last night and she wasn't having it lol I think she's like this is the best! I can go mommy them and teach them things but they're stuck in their little cage and can't bother me all day 🤣
