First time posting, long time lurker. Backstory: So we have a new bunch of hens 3 to be exact that are under the age of 1. Mixed with our old girls who do not lay often. We got them as two day old chicks back in April or May 2020 I can't remember the exact month. Today we noticed the one staying in the nesting box when letting them out in the morning. Yes there was an egg but she stayed there the rest of the day. Both my wife and I have moved her out of the nesting box only for her to put herself back. She is one if the new girls we got last year. Could she be broody? We were thinking she is kinda young to be broody but were not too sure. And help and it advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

The picture I attached is after removing her from the nesting box and placing her by the others.

If she's old enough to lay eggs, she's old enough to go broody.
I once had a pullet that laid only 13 eggs and went broody! (Old English Game Bantam.)
Wow I bet that was fun. Thank you for the information. My wife and I have had chickens for about 6 years now. This is the first time we have had a broody girl.

So whatcha gonna do with her.....let her hatch or break her broodiness?
We're going to try and break the broodiness. Our nesting boxes are in a shed. So we kicked her out and shut the door. Now she is out and about acting normal. We will see what she does tomorrow.
