Hello,
We have a broody silkie and she’s been moved to her own set up days before introducing the chicks under her. We placed 4 Easter eggers from TSC under her in the evening and she immediately tucked them underneath herself. We’ve checked on them frequently and Everytime until now they’ve been under her, I just found one a little bit away and returned it .

What can I expect this process to look like? What is typical vs warning signs? This is our first attempt at letting the silkie take over and raise babies .

Thank you in advance

The chicks have to learn what a mother hen is. Sounds like you are doing well. The chicks will come out to eat and drink, and just to be out. They should learn quickly the hen is for heat and will go under if necessary.
