Hi everyone! I have a problem with one of my hens and hoping I can get some suggestions! One of our buff hens was found by my dad about 8-10 feet from the road unable to put weight on her legs. I had seen her just and hour and a half earlier with the other hens and she was completely normal and walking just fine. I took her into the brooder room for her safety and have been feeding her scrambled eggs, yogurt, electrolytes, as well as her feed. We’ve looked her over and have seen no signs of being attacked. Her legs and feet are now showing some green marks which look like bruising. She can make her way across the brooder but just won’t put weight on her legs. She can move her wings and legs but just won’t put weight on them. Her feet are curled under but I did she her toes move very slightly when I was holding her earlier. I’d be sad if this was any of the hens but it’s Lemon Drop, our favorite, most friendly, and smallest hen. So it’s making me extra sad. She’s eating, drinking, and pooping just fine. We have been cleaning her back end because she’s not standing up so the poop will just stay in her feathers. Should we splint? We live out in the country and I think the closest vet that will see chickens is over an hour away. If any of you have any suggestions I’m all ears! I’ll add a video. She’s moving better than this now ( this was a few days ago) but this is the only video I have. I’m out of town for a few days and my dad is taking care of her. Also she’s almost 4 months old.
