Buff orp chicks sexing

These two have the same parents. Their tails are pretty distinctively different at this point. Does this indicate sex?

I had two that looked very similar, but within about two days the were the same. They were also a little different in size, but as they've feathered out they are very similar.

Thanks, I'll keep watching. I was kind of hoping this might mean one guaranteed hen, We had bad luck on our last hatch of eggs from a friend, 4 of 5 were roos.

It is too young to sex your chicks. Differences in feathering don't usually mean much at this age. By the time they are 6-8 weeks old, we should have a better idea.

I had two Buff's in our last batch of chickens. I was worried the hatchery had messed up for the same reason you are concerned. One had a wider/flat tail and the other's was more pointed and upright. Both were girls though, and very sweet. Night and day personalities too!

Good luck, and I hope they turn out to be pullets! I agree it's a bit early, but hope my story gives you hope.
