We have two BO's that constantly go after our two polish hens. They have removed feather from crest and they do it hard and maliciously. We put the BO's in a timeout in the garage for past two days. Tonight, let them in coop and they immediately went after the Polish hens. What to do? The poor polish hens are frightened and stay on their roost while the others are outside having a ball. Should we rehome the BO's? We love the polish hens and the BO's have never been real friendly from the start. I am literally scared I'll find dead chickens if we keep them together. We also have a barred rock and an Americauna and they are friendly and kind to the polish hens. Our indoor part of coop is 4 ft by 4 ft plus the nesting box area. We feed them layer feed so they are getting protein. We live in Minnesota and its cold so they do choose to stay in coop on fridged days instead of venturing out of their coop to the run beneath. Help! We don't know what to do.

Sounds a little odd for Buff Orpingtons. But there’s a jerk or two in every crowd. Sounds like chicken needs to be back on the menu. :frow :welcome

Do they only bully over food? My Speckled Sussex gets bullied from feed by a couple flock mates, so I scatter feed containers all over the run. Would you be willing to try that? My only issue is I can’t do that on rainy days and I have a bunch of feed containers to pick up each night (my run has chicken wire instead of hardware cloth. I do plan to swap it out someday, but for now mice and rats could get through, so I don’t leave it out overnight.)
