Hello,

I have 2 very very small fruit trees in my backyard, but other than that, it is just bare back there and would like to see what people recommend for some shrubs or bushes I can plant that the chickens can hide in. I feel that they are too exposed in areas. I really need some suggestions please. I can't go that big, but something that provides them some hiding area.

Also, any suggestions for bushes or shrubs that will keep it';s branches and leaves all winter.

I have a spirea and 2 bluebeards on the way, but am not sure if that will be enough.

Thank you

Hi there. I’m unfamiliar with your growing zone, but this thread will likely get you some help with suggestions for your area

In the mean time you can use other stuff to provide cover if you don’t mind a little clutter. A board laid across some cinder blocks, old chairs you’re no longer using, old tables, etc all make great cover and provide shade. Also, welded wire fencing is available in most big box stores along with stakes you pound into the ground. Bend the wire into a little tunnel, attach to stakes and add a little shade cloth for a super quick and simple structure.
