Butchered Chicken with Cancer?

I recently butchered 8 of my retired layers. They all seemed to live pretty normal and healthy lives. One of them had a entire duodenal loop of bowel that was rock hard. It seemed some of the connective tissue around it had some bumps as well. I am worried she had developed duodenal cancer. I didn't notice anything else suspicious about the the carcass.

Does anyone know what this is? Is it safe to eat the butchered bird? Is it cancer or some other phenomenon that can occur in chicken/poultry? Really paranoid about eating an animal that may have cancer spreading in its guts.

Welcome! I wouldn't eat it, and it would be condemned at a slaughter plant if found.
