Button quail living with parakeets?

I was at a bird store and I saw a button quail living on the floor of a parakeet cage. Can this really work out well for both birds? I am tempted to go out and buy a button quail to put inside with my parakeet. Any opinions?

Unless they are in a large enough aviary, they should not be housed together.

This is not an uncommon practise in England, seen it a lot. Generally in larger cages and aviaries but I have seen the indoor cages with a couple of buttons in the bottom.

I'm not sure how well it works in reality, I'm pretty sure budgies are not too fond of other birds and require plenty of space away from them. Button quail are very skittish too and likely to cause lots of issues.

I wonder if there's any risk of diseases alike quail/chickens.

Not a good idea from personal experience, budgies can injure/kill buttons

Wouldn't keep them in a small cage but buttons in the UK are foremost aviary birds to help clear up drop seeds n keep ground insects to a minimum. But no I don't think it's a good idea for an indoor cage. As both are pretty territorial xx
