Buying Chicks in Maine

I could use an updated list of places in Maine. I'd like to get my new layers started ASAP as I can't seem to keep up with customers egg demands. Looking for baby chicks of the following breeds: Barred Rocks, Copper or Cuckoo Marans, Aracaunas, Gold Comets, and Black Star. Where in Maine doesn't matter too much (preferably southern, central or western).


Please help.

I'm not in Maine, so cant help much. Can I suggest the place you purchase your feed??? These places are about to start selling chicks now. Hope some breeders in your area respond to your post.

I found some... Not all of the breeds I wanted exactly, but fairly close. I was going to use my local feed store for my layers, but they aren't delivering them until May... that's too late

Theo, where did you find them? I'm also in Maine, and if it's close enough to me I could maybe get mine there too.

I have the opposite problem. I'm getting 2 doz. eggs/day, and don't have enough customers! PM if you want to buy some adult birds. I'm in Central Maine.

I just looked them up, and while they do offer one of the breeds I want (Welsummer), they charge $11 for a day-old chick, which is a lot more than I want to pay.
