Greetings from Antiocheggers,
Last week while doing my rounds to check on my chickens, I came upon one of my chickens Gloria, not being able to stand up on her feet. So, immediately she goes to sick bay that I have made on my back porch. I started my research Google took me right to BYC where I found alot of informative information that I need to her treat her. I thought for sure she wasn't going make it. She just laid in the create

.
It's been cold here in Central Florida so I didn't give her and Epson salt bath but start feeding her probiotics and mixed raw egg into her feed, kept her warm, made sure she has plenty of water.
One week later she was standing up and had passed a soft egg. She will stay in sick bay until she gain her strength back.
Thank you BYC for being there and so informative when I need help. ❤️

And, you @Debbie292d have always been a great help for information as well.
So we had Gloria out of her crate to give her a little more room, so I clean it out. I noticed that one of her angles looked swollen. We wrapped it with a bandage wrap. The left leg she had no problem with wrapping it, but the right leg appeared to hurt her more.
Is there any thing I give her to ease the pain. She did stand on both today but then sat down.

Well thank you so much! 🥰 We have many here who like helping based on our knowledge or experiences, so I help where I can.

This is one I am wondering about why if she's been in a crate does she have a swollen leg if you know? Was it like that when put in there or she just now developed it?

If you want to give her asprin for pain, you can do that, but max per day is 120 mg. divided up into 40 mg. three times a day (per Poultry DVM and others here). Baby aspirin is fine, or regular aspirin, it's just a matter of how many ways each has to be split.

I'd soak her legs in Epsom salt water for 15 or so minutes a couple of times a day. That might help with swelling, plus make her feel better.

How old is dear Gloria by the way? She sure is a pretty hen!

Hi Gloria is about 4 years old and live in coop with 15 other hens. It has a roost that they all climb up on for the night. It was a shed that we coverted. The only time a chicken is in the dog create is when they are ill and have to be separated from the flock. I have aspirin I'll give her some and a nice warm Epson salt bath. Thank you

She needs extra calcium since she laid a soft-shelled egg. Give her a Calcium Citrate+D3 tablet daily for about three days and see if she passes a proper shelled egg.
