Frattoneyes
In the Brooder
Hi all,
I'm constructing a new 16' X 6' walk in run from Pressure treated (tanalised) timber (C24).
I want to paint this wood but I've been advised to wait at least 6-8 weeks to allow any moisture to escape from the wood before I paint it.
My hens arrive in 3 weeks time, so I want to build the run before they arrive.
I fear that if I staple the mesh / hardwire cloth to the wood now, I'll need to unpick it all in order to paint the timber; which means making lots of holes in the wood where the staples have been removed. (I don't want to paint over the mesh once it's tacked to the frame).
I thought, as a temporary measure, I could cable tie (zip tie) the hardwire cloth to the frame, so as not to damage the timber.
We do have foxes who visit the garden from time to time - so I'd need to ensure I use loads of ties to make it secure.
Does everyone agree this would be ok as a temporary measure!? I can't see a fox being able to get its teeth around several securely-fastened zip ties?
