Hello! when I first got my flock of 8 Svarts, I absolutely fell in love. We have the mother and dad only for breeding (we just hatched 5 more chicks). Then from the previous owner, 6 other chicks from the pair (2 cockerels, and 4 pullets). We have 1 amazing cockerel, but with almost pure white ears, pale black skin and pinkish mouth. Plus 2 stunning pullets, but same with them, pale skin and pinkish mouth (we think there was a single none Svart parent in the gene tree at some point). We took them to our county fair, and they didn't well at all. Why? Because they aren't in the APA Standards. So, my 2 questions:
Because this is such an amazing breed, and stunning, why not get some breeders together, create a standard, and find/create a large enough amount of perfect birds to become recognized as a breed? My goal is to have them a breed by the end of 2019 into 2020. As of now, to even be considered, I need to find at least 5 breeders to support this process. So who would be interested in finally recognizing this breed?!
and second:
Who does have a pure Svart Hona they would be willing to sell (Cock or cockerel and, if possible, maybe 2 hens to start a separate line if I can't fix the ones I have)? So maybe I can perfect the lines that I have, and have some true Svart Honas!
