Oh yeah. I hate popping over a hill to something in the road. This is the truth! In NM, your headlights refract (?) off the dust in the air and you can see for miles. You csn see the headlights of another car, for example, for at least three miles away. Not here! The humidity keeps the dust down so you don't see their headlamps till they're practically on top of you! Took me a while to get used to this and not have a heart attack every time I came over one of MO's millions of little rolling hills to find another car practically in my face! (Esp with its brights on, lol).
I hit a black great dane on my way to work in the dark a few weeks ago after the time change. All I could see of it was the reflective strip of it's collar. Despite my best effort I still smacked it. Busted out my headlight but that was all. The dog lived I hear tell. The owners we were told live 2.5 miles from where I hit it. They just let it roam where it wants.
Maybe now it'll stay out of the road.
