I have a flock, all around 1 yr old. They have had tapeworm for gosh, 6 months.
I talked to my vet (not really helpful) but gave hens Safeguard in their water. Did not work.
Trying again with Panacur paste. Still not working.
I tried 1 dose and a dose 10 days later. This time I did 1 dose for 3 days and will do again in 10, but still seeing live worms. They are the rice-size ones, but alive and well.
I have tried all natural methods as well, nothing is working.
Any ideas on what to do?
Also, we are discarding eggs while on medication, but should we be concerned to eat eggs when they are infested? Is it a danger to us?

You need to use Praziquantel to treat Tapeworms.

You can find Equimax horse paste at TSC or similar farm stores.

Dose is 0.033ml per pound of weight given orally once, then repeated in 10-14days.

Withdrawal period of 14 days after the last dose.

How do I measure that in the paste form?

I tried everything for mine. Finally used zimecterin gold equine paste at 1/2 ml then again in 10 days. 7.75% praziquantel. It comes in other brands that have a higher dose. Put in syringe and gave to any affected birds.

I have to share my excitement . We gave the first dose of
Equimax Ivermectin/Praziquantel and so far I haven’t seen any worms. We will still dose the second time.

keep the poop scooped so you have less contamination. Those worm eggs stay in the soil so the more cleaning, the better!
