Can someone tell me their best guess at gender for these 4.5month old Sizzle (and one silkie) chickens?? Cockerels are illegal in our area so would like to sort things out sooner rather than later. A fourth chicken (not pictured) is for sure a male as he regularly crows, but the white frizzled sizzle in the photos seems to make a crowing type sound as well. Hoping it’s one of those not so rare crowing pullets, as my daughter is quite fond of that one.

Also, our silkie seems to have a cross beak type issue. Any advice with that would also be incredibly helpful since I have a sinking suspicion that the silkie may be our only female of the group.

Sorry to tell you this, but one is definitely a cockerel. It's the dark partridge. See the feathers that form a "mane" around his neck? That is a male-only feature. Also he has a lot of comb. The first pic also looks like it might be a cockerel, as there are some streamers in his crest, but I can't see his comb. In the third pic, the bird on the right looks to be a cockerel too. He has a lot of streamers, and looks to have lots of comb too. The one in the middle looks to be a pullet to me. What are their ages?

They’re all the same age, almost 5 months. In the last pic, the one in the middle is the cross beaked silkie (also seen in the first pic). I pretty much assumed the black one was male but still don’t know for sure on the two white (one silkie, one frizzled sizzle). Any idea if silkies and/or sizzle pullets form any comb or wattle? If so, around what age and how much/what color?

Yes, they form combs, and the male's combs are always bigger. If you compare the combs, you might be able to determine which, if any, are pullets. I didn't realize the one in the middle was also the one on top. Can you take a close-up pic of the comb on that bird? I can't tell how much comb is present in these pics. The one on the bottom, same thing. Need a close-up of comb, but I have a hunch it's a cockerel. Don't panic until you post the pic of comb. I'm surprised you haven't heard any crowing if they are 5 months old. Also, if any pullets are present, they should be laying very soon.

The first white bird is the cross beaked silkie. The second white is the frizzled (aka my daughters fav)...and the black one, who is the same approx age as the other two and I’m 99.9% sure is a cockerel. Out of all three, my daughters fav is the only one that has hen-like behavior, such as crouching when pet, doesn’t squirm or squawk when picked up and rarely has a disagreement with the other two.

With silkies a frizzle is called a "sizzle". Looks like it has light skin, how about feet and no. of toes? Comb should be black. Not one I would use for breeding or the cross beak.
