Can apple cider vinegar cause "loose stool"?

I started my 2-week-old chicks (Barred Rocks and Buff Silkies) on apple cider vinegar in their water - 1 tsp per quart once per day - a few days ago and have now noticed that my chicks, especially my Silkies, have much looser stool. It's dark brown like the Ceacal, but very thin... opaque, but watery in consistency. Has anyone else experienced a change like this? Is it normal? Am I giving too much or too little vinegar? I make sure to give them fresh water at least once and often twice a day since the chicks tend to poop in their water.

This is my first experience as a chicken mom, so I'm alert for anything and everything that could go wrong.

WELCOME TO BYC!

It doesn't sound like you gave them too much. Could it be something in their diet? Are they eating their bedding?
I'm using pine bedding, and while I've seen them scratch at it, I haven't noticed them eating it. The only other thing I give them is meal worms as a daily treat while working on training them. I try to keep the amount to a minimum, but perhaps one of them got more than her fair share. *Sigh* This is a truly enjoyable experience, but just as worrisome as raising any other baby, human or animal.

Your actually supposed to give them one tsp per gallon not quart. Have they been around any other chickens? What kind of feed are you giving them?
