Hello,

I have a sick chicken and wanted to give her some Apple Cider Vinegar but it seems we have run out. I did have Cane Vinegar and also regular White Vinegar. Is there a reason only Apple Cider Vinegar is recommended over other vinegars for chickens ?

The bird has developed some sort of abscess under the wing and it is pooling into her leg. It might be gangrenous dermatitis. I was not able to get access to Amtyl and gave her a shot of 0.2 cc of Pennicillin intramuscularly in the breast muscle. She is in bad shape with one leg has swelling and buildup of fluid around the leg.

I have read that for Gangrenous Dermatitis Apple Cider Vinegar can help by suppressing certain bacteria in the digestive system and aiding digestion. I can go get some but have Cane and White Vinegar and wanted to know if that could substitute.

Maybe, but only the kind with the 'mother' in it as that's where the beneficial bacteria reside.
