Or is a chicken nipple a completely different mechanism? I've never seen one.Would chickens be able to operate the ball bearing type that other animals use?
Thanks

I recently switched my chick s to poultry nipples and all but one caught on in minutes. Before this, I tried using a hamster bottle in a cage to travel with our chicks for my daughters show and tell at school. Not one chicken caught on. I think it's easier for their beaks to hit a poultry nipple. The end is longer, there is more for their beak to hit than a ball on the hamster bottle.

Thanks!

I bought a rabbit water bottle (think hamster but bigger) and it worked just fine. Chickens needed me to tap it with my finger a few times so they saw the water drops...but once they got it...it was never a problem and I used it for three years.
