Can chickens get West Nile?

Yes, they can. It's not very common. The best thing to do is try to keep wild ducks and transient birds like that from your barnyard.

Otherwise, try to minimize mosquito populations.

Never assume that what your bird has is WNV, however. The symptoms are shared by many diseases and sometimes are mimicked by just anemia caused by mites, bullying from feed, etc.

If you have a doubt, always always always get birds tested. Your state vet can point you in the right direction, as can your ag extension guys.
