Hi guys. I have two pet ducks that I keep in my garage. They have access to water(Not the biggest bucket but they can deep their entire head in it) and food 24/7. This week temperature will rise to 97 F and today temperature was 89 F. My Anacona duck suddenly started the breathing from the mouth then he was breathing super loud and then he suddenly sit on the floor I was so scared I made water with Ice for them and after drinking he seemed fine. He is fine rn but What can I do to make them more comfortable in this hot weather? Due to the space I can't give them a large bucket of water to swim 24/7(I can let them swim in bathroom but due to work I can only do this once or twice a day at maximum). Can I spray water to make them cooler and more comfortable in hot days??

My ducks love for me to spray them with the hose on mist setting. you could try using a spray bottle and aim
It above their heads so it falls down over them. As far as hot temps make sure they have shade and fresh drinking water even ice cubes in their bucket. When they get hot they will pant just like a dog does. Also if your garage is hot a fan to stir the air would help

I do not have ducks only chickens. I freeze water bottles. Remove the label so they do not eat it. I take the cap off and lay it in their water bowls. The bottle stays frozen longer than cubes and as it melts it adds cool water back into the bowl.

You can also freeze water in small containers to make blocks of ice.

A word of warning, be careful giving them ice cubes if you suspect heat stroke. In that case, it's best to spray them with cool water to bring their temp down gradually.
Ordinarily though, ice/cold water can be good for keeping them cool yes.

How old are they, and are they in the garage 24/7? Is there any way for them to have a pool? It would be great for them to be able to swim, both to cool down and for enrichment. Does the garage heat up, or stay the same as indoor temp?
