Hi, all my chickens have mites, sadly. I was wondering if i could use lice shampoo for humans on chickens.. i'm thinking about giving each hen a warm bath with soap and water and diluting one tablespoon of lice shampoo in a cup of water, and then pouring it on them. Is this ok? I don't want to hurt my sweet birds but the mite infestation is getting out of hand :(
and yes I tried de, it doesn't work for me

Most lice shampoo is permetherin (may not have spelled that right). It is also used in a lot of dog shampoos to kill fleas. I would use it but you will also have to treat the coop with 7 dust too or they will get reinfested. Diluting the shampoo will also not be effective. It needs to be used full strength.
I personally would try it although an easier way would be to just dust them all along with the coop with 7 dust.

can I order that online?? i dont have a feed store near me and most of my hens are lethargic, i'm running out of ideas. I already gave a hen a warm bath yesterday and she's doing much better (no medicine) i checked her this morning and there were no mites @Folly's place

What you use can depend on where you live. In the US, we can get permethrin 10 concentrate, and mix it with water in a spray bottle or garden sprayer to spray the chicken and the coop. There also is permethrin garden dust. Mites require treatment at 7 day intervals to break the lifecycle of the mites. Bedding must be emptied and discarded in garbage bags or burned. The coop, nests, roosts, and hiding places also must be sprayed. Elector PSP is one of the best products you can use, but is a little expensive, although it goes farther. Here is a good link to read about mites and lice:

Martins or Gordons permethrin 10 are available at most farm stores and online for as little as $8, and can be used in a bottle sprayer. Mix it 37 ml per gallon of water.

Carbaryl (the insecticide in Sevin) is not approved for use in poultry in the USA. Use permethrin instead!

Any insecticide will kill lice, but you should use something with zero egg withdrawal like permethrin or spinosad, not something meant for another purpose.
