I have three 6-week old chicks and was thinking about treats I could give them. I saw my tortoises' Komodo fruit and flower diet food- they are dry food you add to water so they can go soft.

Would they like it? Would it be healthy for them?
They will still get their normal crumb, I was just wondering if they could eat it.

You can add chick starter to water and it will go soft, and the chicks think it's a great treat too.

That is very helpful, because we can tell exactly what you are talking about!

The chicks would probably like it well enough.
It should not actually hurt them, but their own chick starter would be much healthier for them. The first thing I notice is the protein. That tortoise food has about half as much protein as a chick ought to be getting.

Yes, they could probably eat it, but as long as you still have the tortoise, I would not give any of its food to the chicks. (If you have leftover tortoise food and no tortoise, I would probably give the leftover food to the chickens after they get older, but not buy more.)

Chick starter is better for them nutritionally.
Chick starter is probably cheaper.
And if you add water to chick starter, they chicks usually go crazy for it, so I think it makes a great treat.

I would not feed them this.
I don't give little chicks any treats.....treats are more for the keeper than the birds anyway.
I feed Flock Raiser crumble and use cracked grain chick starter from the mill as 'bait' for 'training'.
