Hi,
I bought what were supposed to be silkie/cochin mix eggs off ebay. The people I got them from have lots of other types of chickens, though, too.
What hatched out was a tiny chick that grew into a very tiny, feisty, genius bird. She's smaller than my silkies, the smartest bird I have. The quickest bird I've ever seen, and she can fly effortlessly - high and far.
She lays eggs that are not much bigger than quail eggs (maybe the size of jumbo quail eggs) - I'll attach a photo of her egg next to a large quail egg.
She's obviously not a silkie or cochin because she does not have feathered feet, has only the normal 4 toes, has a comb type that's too small for me to tell? Maybe single or pea or rose? Can't tell. Very little wattles.
Her feathers are sleek and tight to her body, and she has a prominent tail (also unlike cochin). I suppose it's possible she could be a silkie or cochin mix if those silkie/cochin parents were not pure, but she doesn't have a crest, muffs, beard, or feet feathering, and like I said, she only has 4 toes.
She's a beautiful hen, but what is she? I was thinking she looks kinda like an old english game bantam, maybe a rosecomb or dutch bantam, or japanese bantam, maybe even a serama? Any ideas?
What does she look like?
