I am ordering fawn silver OEGB chicks because the fawns and silver duckwings in the order will have darker eyeliner for female chicks. The khakis I will rehome along with the cockerel chicks. I was thinking of ordering Black breasted red because chicks can also be sexed by eyeliner. I am a bit more interested in spangled but am wondering if they can also be sexed by eyeliner? The pictures and video I see of spangled chicks look like BBR but in Ideal Poultry's picture they all look the same, I don't know if they are all pullets or if male and female look identical.

The Spangled OEGB chicks I bought some years ago looked like normal BBR chicks to me. I've never learned how to sex them by appearance, so I can't say for sure whether that would work or not. Mine were from Welp Hatchery, not Ideal. I don't know if that makes any difference either.

Happy Mother's Day! I took new pictures of the 12 fawn silver chicks (3 of which are khaki) today.

Chick 1, the runt. 45 grams and the only one that doesn't fit the 8 mm leg bands (size 5). I got the leg bands delivered from Amazon I believe Monday and each day less and less chicks were taking them off until today they all had them on.

Pictures taken today, at a month old they are too active for me to attempt the three poses. I just took whatever picture I could before they fled or ran off.

Chick 1 - No band- 76 grams - 2.7 ounces - loud but she was the last chick in the brooder while the others were transferred to another brooder.

I am very impressed with the comb & wattle growth of chick 10, in the last 8 days (since the previous update.) That is a beautiful example of how fast they can change!

I really like how well you are documenting the growth and development of these chicks :)
