Last year I put in a "bucket nipple" watering system, and all the chickens were drinking within 2 hours.

Now I have turkeys and would like to use the same system, but don't know if its possible?

Thanks
Sue

Thats all I have in my growout pens and some breeding pens. I do have a chicken hen in each of my growout pens that shows them how to do it.

Thanks, but I only have adult turkeys, and I'd have to put the bucket up so high, non of my chickens will be able to reach it, although, they are in an adjacent pen they could see through & watch the chickens. I wonder if they will figure it out?

I have had that problem with new larger turkeys and put a block under the nipple on the groung and the chicken would jump up on the block and reach the nipple no problems. They pick it up pretty quick.

We use a commercial style nipple system with our poults and it works fine. On the adult birds - we built a small cup watering system that works best. We actually sell this cup watering system - send me a message if interested. THANKS!

They will figure it out! You could even show them by pushing on the nipple and letting the water drip. Mine are in a 1/2" PVC "T" and regular 1/2 PVC pipe running through all the pens. It has a pressure reducer on the inlet and a flush on the outlet side. It runs through 7 pen in a line and works great. I do have to cut it off and open the flush end when we are going to drop in the 20's but in my part of Texas, thats not too often usually. On average, 10 nights per winter. We did have a bad winter for us and it stayed below freezing for a week! That is unheard of for here. I don't knoe how you folks up north do it all winter.

I can use the nipples from April through mid NOvember, but then everything is frozen until spring..and this year was a very looonnnggg winter.
