I was just wondering this becouse there soo hard to trap for me and I hate killing them myself.I know this sounds cruel and all but people do it to mice and rats so why not coons?I fany of you people do it what do you use for poison?

There are a lot of other creatures that will eat what a racoon will eat, so you risk indescriminately poisoning a lot of wildlife. Using poison to control wildlife populations is also illegal in many areas.

I get the impression that lead is a popular choice amongst the rural BYCers.

If you poison the darn things, they will probably run under the house to die. How are you going to deal with that?

Shoot the critters if you cannot trap and baptize them.

Be careful, they may be rabid.

Ummmmmm the thing is is that im kinda young to have a .22 lol.So that really is not an option. And besides my house is not on stilts! Its firmly placed into the ground.

I rather shoot them myself or trap and shoot.

If poison is your thing, you can try rat poison, maybe they will eat it by mistake. However it may be illegial to do so. Use the SSS method or PSS method.

Yes you can posion them.

however it is illegal

If you choose to go with posion you will need to be careful and not tell anyone. And it is very possible you might catch other animals in the cross fire.

I cant tell you on an open forum. However you would be surprised what you can find when you use google.

one of the more popular ILLEGAL methods is to use Golden Malrin and mix it with something stronger smelling. This will kill indiscriminately as others have pointed out. PM any of those of us here you feel comfortable talking to about it, but kiddo, you won't be able to purchase what you will need because of your age me thinks. Best bet is to trap and baptise

Gold Maltrin has been around for at least two decades and never saw any cats dying from it. It been exposed to all the flies in the stables and the dogs and cats never bothered it when it was on the board pieces. It was at a boarding stable when I found those things around the stables.

So I dont know if a coon would attempt to eat that bait or it is not strong enough to kill a coon. Probably would make him sick but not die from it.
