My previous post.
Yesterday marked the 7th day of treating with the powdered METRONIDAZOLE as that was what I was able to get a hold of w/o a vet rx and quickly. She's made some improvement (cheese substance under tongue is minimal to none and she's gained over 100 grams).
But she is still producing some mucus from her throat. Since I discovered she has canker, I've checked down her throat and and as far down as I can see I don't see any more of the cheese or plaques but I can assume it's in her crop, esophagus but further down. The mucus makes it difficult for her to get her full amount of food/water for the day. She's been alert since I discovered it 12/31/24 last year. She's still isolated. I continue to clean whatever is under her tongue.
About her:
- 3 years old
- 1390 grams
- Easter Egger
My questions:
- Again, am I doing this right?
- Can I mix the water+acidified copper sulfate into her wet mash as I've done with the METRONIDAZOLE powder? Or is it better to keep it seperate?
- If I keep it separate, how much should I be syringe feeding her the water+acidified copper sulfate?
-Is there any harm to mixing 1 gallon+1/4 tsp of acidified copper sulfate then pouring out a pint on the side for her?

01/13/25
- last tube feeding of Kaytee Exact mixed with water+ 20% METRONIDAZOLE powder. 120ml twice a day.
- started the rest of my flock on 1/4 tsp Acidified Copper Sulfate+ 1 gallon of water as a preventative
01/14/25
- day 2 of 10 of the flock treatment (1/4 tsp Acidified Copper Sulfate+ 1 gallon of water)
- tube fed her 100ml of Kaytee Exact mixed with water in the morning
- took 20 ml of the treatment made for the flock and syringe dripped that into her mouth to drink
- left about a pint of the flock treatment in a bowl for her to drink by herself (if she can)
