Cat litter for dust bath

Don’t know a lot about quail.

Do know cat litter is designed to absorb moisture.

I wouldnt think that would be great for the birds skin. With my chickens, sand or black dirt are at least moisture neutral.

I don't know anything about Quail - but depending on what kind of cat litter, they usually have a lot of additives including scents that might well be harmful to chickens and maybe also Quail if they have similarly sensitive respiratory systems.
I am also not sure why you would want to do this because regular construction sand is very cheap and makes great dust baths (at least it does for chickens).
If you have an excess of cat litter I would donate it to the nearest cat rescue/shelter and buy some sand.

I think cat litter may be a good choice if it is pure clay and untreated.
I use peat moss now with some sand, a dash of wood ash or de.
I just keep having problems with the hens consistently hanging up their towels upon exiting their spa area!
