Cat took three of our chicks-only leaving one.

Thank you.
We’ve had another set of chicks in the same brooder and it wasn’t an issue but we are definitely going to up the security!
However the same cat just pounced at one of our bigger girls (which she’s never bothered before) and we don’t have a rooster so she may be going to a new home. It’s such a tough situation.
I wouldn't worry about the bigger girls, a cat is no match. My feral cats don't even dare walk across my chickens run, the girls will gang up on the poor cat.

Thank you! That makes me feel so much better!
Our bigger girls are still only 11 weeks old but we supervise them when they free range right now anyways ☺️

My crates are covered in hardware cloth to keep predators from sticking their paws between the bars when my chicks are outdoors however I've found nylon bird netting and cardboard is sufficient indoors as long as the cats are supervised at all times

Good idea! Thank you!
Just a thought I just went through the same thing. I had two ticks in a cage in the garage and something small got through the cage and killed both of them. It must’ve been a mouse or a lizard to fit. I raised three in my garage and never had an issue. I got two more and somehow something got through to them.
