I have 6 cayuga, all female as far as I know, roughly 8 weeks old. They are beautiful happy healthy critters and for the most part I feel well informed, thanks in no small part to all of you wonderful people but the time has come ,I cant find an answer to a question.
At around 4 weeks bill colors started to change from black to a mix of black and olive, having read up on them I realized that this was normal but the changing has not stopped. From day to day I've noticed that their individual bill colors have changed like mood rings, one has gone back to black . I know that alot happens in a duck over the course of 24 hours but is it normal ? Does it ever stop? Do I simply spend too much time analyzing my ducks? Is that even possible?

Just now

Just curious, they seem to be healthy and happy. I have spent a great deal of time reading all of the duck internet and have not come across any solid answer . Maybe I'm still in the throes of full blown duck madness but I swear the one eyeballing the camera had a green stripe between her nares yesterday.

A brief update on my magic ducks. Photos of "echo" the one that went almost all black the other dau. My current theory and probably as far as I will ever sort out is that perhaps the black oil they produce and lots of preening have been enough to stain their bill or refract enough light to throw my perception off from day to day.
