It has been recommended to me by a local guy that raises bantams, that I give my silkies Cephalexin for an eye condition that keeps persisting. However, I have been unable to reach him for the dosage amount. Does anyone know how much I should dilute it? He told me to get the Fish Flex brand which comes in 250 or 500 mg. capsules.

Unsure of Cephalexin dosage it may be the same as the fishzole?

But You could try Fish Zole (Metronidazole 250 mg) Also made by fish flex, the dosage i think for a silkie would be about half of a 250 mg tablet once a day for about 5 days of treatment for bacterial infections.
For LF Chickens 1 tablet daily for 5 days.

Must give for the full 5 days..

According to my vet for full grown turkeys they get two 250 mg tablets daily for 5 days..just figured id add this in..

You could try Ciloxan Eye Drops which is one of the best or
Vetropolycin Ophthalmic Ointment as well, both for infection of the eyes.

Help,

Can someone please tell me how much Keflex (Cephalexin) to give my Silkie chicken that weighs 1.9lbs?
It's for a really nasty abcess she has just below her ear where she was pecked by another chicken. It's questionable however as to whether it could be a Canker? An online source said to give her 250mg twice a day but that sounds like way way way too much to me?
PLEASE can someone tell me if that's right or if it's maybe more like half of that dose perhaps? Again she weighs just 1.9lbs.
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!!

Looks like Cephalexin dose is 35-50mg/kg given 4 times a day for 5 days.

If you think she's suffering from Ear Canker, then Metronidazole would be a better choice.
