3yo chocolate Orpington hen didn’t want to eat and was laying down unlike her usual self she did not run over for a treat like the others. I also found I had a container of scratch grains that got wet and was turning bad, and pretty sure she had ate some of it, so I brought her inside, and mixed 1 teaspoon activated charcoal with one cup warm water and then carefully gave her one ML of it one drop at a time put her in a crate., dark quiet room, with fresh water available. 8 hours later (early this morning) gave her another 1 ml, I filled her water with electrolytes solution. But I also noticed her crop was not empty so now I think maybe she didn’t need the charcoal? Maybe it’s impacted? The chickens did have access to some weeds the other day that were a bit stemmy. So I waited another hour and froze some coconut oil and gave her a couple of small chunks of it which she ate happily. Then I gently carefully massaged her crop and it got softer and smaller as I massaged it. Now she’s just hanging out in a crate with her electrolyte water.
I just wonder if it is bad that I gave her charcoal and then coconut oil right after?
