Chick Feed? Best? Worst? Medicated? NON-GMO? Organic? Brands?

Hi all !!!! Just curious I'm going to have chicks soon and wanted to know the best of everything for them !!!

I feed either 20% Purina Flock Raiser, 20% Dumor Chick Starter/Grower, or 22% Mana Pro Rising Chick Starter/Grower feeds.

There is no "best" - whatever's freshest and readily available that meets your requirements will work. I don't feed medicated because I want to build up resistance via exposure. I feed organic, but that's because I want eggs that follow organic guidelines. No point in feeding organic if you don't buy into it.

All my chicks are broody-hatched and/or raised, and therefore exposed to soil from day one. I've always fed medicated feed, and have never had any chicks (or adult chickens) contract coccidiosis.

Hi, what a great idea! We’ve been having lots of little pasty butts. Even with probiotic supplements. what’s your fermentation process?

If you have a lot of pasty butt, lowering the temperature of the brooder or insuring they have a good sized cool area to escape to will likely help more than anything.
