Hello! I’m not new to chickens but have never had this happen before. My daughter brought home four two week old chicks they hatched at school. They’re inside, under our heat lamp with plenty of clean shavings, water and chick feed. Today I noticed that one of the chicks leg is swollen, warm and has a cut around the leg. It goes all the way around the leg. I gave her an Epsom bath, dried her off good and put neosporin on the leg. She barely puts weight on it.
I just checked on her and the wound looks worse now. There’s a blister above the cut itself is starting to ooze. I thought maybe something had wrapped itself around it and cut off the circulation, because honestly it looks like that’s the case, but there is nothing there. I held it under a very bright light and don’t see anything at all.
I need help because my daughter has become attached! (Even though these babies are def going out to the coop with the rest of our chickens when they’re big enough!)
