I’m not sure if this is the right place to put this but I need help!

I have a chick that pipped on the wrong end of the egg but I was not super worried because within 6 or so hours it started the unzipping process. Except it started 12 hours ago and it isn’t making any progress now.

Is it time for an assisted hatch? I don’t want to lose a baby :(

If it has started unzipping and stopped that indicates it has got stuck. It's time to step in and help out.

About halfway down this article it talks about chicks that have pipped at the wrong end:here we go again someone suggesting assisting hatch to early. It can take up to 24 hours for chick to hatch.Dont mess with it till 24 hours is up.Leave incubator closed dont mess with egg.

Good luck!

a bottom popping egg can be MUCH slower than normal. .. I wouldn't worry unless all other eggs gave hatched.
I have 14 other babies, but it’s hard to gauge what day was 21 because they were all rescue eggs at slightly different points. But it’s up to 18 hours and he hasn’t made the hole any bigger since I went to bed

well, after reading an assisted hatch article. .. so you know what you are doing, I would carefully look and see how it is going. Maybe peel a tiny fragment of she'll back to see how the veins look.

The veins look dry and the yolk is absorbed. I peeled some shell and membrane back, then left the house for a about 8 hours and still no progress. Still alive though!

did you read one of the assisted hatch articles?

Until you moisten the membrane, they can look dry with the blood dried up... but then when you moisten the membrane you suddenly see lots of blood.

So... if the blood truly is all dried up... then yes, go ahead and help him out.

I used a Q-tip to moisten the membrane when I pulled the membrane back a bit. But it’s still really dry. I don’t understand how because my humidity has been at least 60% the entire time.
