These babies hatched on the 24th and have been healthy and happy, but I left them for a day (yesterday) in the care of my dad who has taken care of and raised chicks before and came back to my favorite chick Marshmallow suddenly lame.
Her legs shake and feel weak when she’s sitting in my hand and she can barely move her legs, when I set her down she stands and then slowly falls back to sitting. She’s been sitting so much her little ankles/knees on her legs are pink and raw. She wasn’t like this before today so I picked up some rooster booster B-12 and have been syringing small amounts to her and offering her water with some of it in it. She’s still very alert, very loud, and I can tell she still hobbles around enough to eat at the feeder or be across the brooder from the side I placed her back on.
What could this sudden lameness be? It seems to be entirely just both of her legs, she has a lot of energy otherwise.
Thanks so much :,)
