Yesterday one of my chicks pipped. It was the last one to pip, but yesterday was when they were due. It pipped early morning. (around 7am my time) It is now 1:10 pm a day later and it still is not out. It is cracked and it looks like it would not take much for it to push itself out. I am wondering at what stage it is time to interfere? I want nature to do it's thing, but I really don't want it to die!

Any answers GREATLY appreciated!

I can't see the pic, but I start an assisted hatch by 24 hours after the pip. If I start an assist and there's still many prominent veining I'll stop, and check hourly, but 30 hours after the pip I would be concerned about fatigue/exhaustion and even dehydration.

Ahhhh! The membrane is stuck to her, making her unable to get out. I peeling away some of the shell, but she is still in there. I also dampened the membrane. Please help!

You are doing the right thing. Wet the membrane (careful not to get water in the nose) and as long as there is no significant veining go ahead and free her from the shell and then give her time to rest.

The chick is out of the egg. Very wobbly, and I have to keep him separate from the other chicks because they peck her. She survived through the night (yay!) and looks a bit better. She still has some shell and membrane stuck to her... I am wondering the best way to get it off? I only have one heat pad (in the brooder) so I have got a small cardboard box with hay in it underneath the brooder, which is where she is at the moment. Is this ok? She does not have any access to food or water at the moment but I figured that because it is day 2 it should be ok. Thank you very much!

I washed the little chickie with a warm water and cloth. All egg and membrane is off!

He is in the incubator again to warm up because he was shivering before. I tested to see if he would get along with the other chicks (before I washed him) and they started pecking the membrane and egg shell of him. Does anyone know if I put him in now (clean) if the other chicks will be nice to him?
Thanks
